The Dominion of Oniyx

Fact book (( work in progress will update as I finish bits and pieces))

Oniyx is a Technologicaly Stunning nation that has been either scorned or almost worshiped around the world for its technology and its obsession with it. To that end they have opted to remove themselves slightly from the rest of world, and have stumbled upon the tranquil area that spero Calls Home.

Explaination-
Part B is the main visible section of Oniyx. it is Made up of 7 Sections, Each section is roughly the size of New york city including all sub-urbs. In the picture ( URL provided above) you can clearly see the 7 sections 6 arms attached to the Main center section. The Section located bottom center (( closest to you?) is point A. Point A is a residential block. containing Residences entertainment, dining,and retial outlets. Going clockwise we come to Section B, section B is an industrial block, containing factories and the like, basicly this is where everthing is made and manufactured. GOing clockwise still we come to section C which is another residential block same as section A. Section D (( still going clockwise, as will be the trend)) is the Sciences and medical section. This where Research and development of new technology is done aswell as medical sciences including the locations of the hospitals. Section E.....more residential. Section F is the visible( explained later) Military sector, this is where you would report for military service if you are voluntary and where the military process is visible to the public eye, All military forces naval, ground, air and support are located here. Section G the center Section is a culmination of all of Oniyx, Within it consists Administrative/ governmental, buisness, foreign policy/ diplomatic and some high end residential area's basicly this is the downtown/ capital city type section.

Part A- Is a submerged section, its accesible only from 2 sections, F and G. it is roughly the size of new york city in length/ width and the vertical area(( both up and down)) is about half that combined, it uses gravity technology to keep from shearing off. This Section is the unseen military section where, used as building facilities testing grounds training of volunteer soliders and processing of non volunteer soldiers is conducted. It is also the location of Special projects divisions of each branch.

Part C- The Pillar as it is called, is basicly the military high command (( disregard the labels there is no Lazers and stuff I'll get into that stuff later in the fact book.) It houses the tactical uplink servers and is held aloft by anti gravity suspensions the only way to gain entrance is by VTOL aerial vehicle. (( VTOL means Vertcile Take Off Landing))

Basic information
The construct that is Oniyx does not actualy float on the water though it is capable of it. the main part of Oniyx hovvers about 250 feet above the water. resting on the water below each section is a floating Port (( http://karanak.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2f3yv4 )) these are connected to the sections above by orbital elevator tubes/platforms

Living and working in Oniyx
- Oniyx was constructed to be the epitome of efficiency and comfort for its inhabitants. To That end it was constructed in segments people lived far away from where they worked allowing them to basicly leave work behind when they went home, with the exception of those in the service and entertainment industry whom work mostly very near to their dwellings. Finding work on Oniyx is extremely easy. From the moment a child enters the lowest grades of education they are frequently given aptitude tests that define their skills and interests. These test determine more and more progressively the childs next stage of education eventually culminating in placement within a career that the person is both geared toward in training and aptitude aswell as having a strong interest in. This basicly negates the effect of hating ones job which in turn bolsters productivity and efficiency. This design fills all needs of Oniyx, from service and low skilled labor to the upper echelon of corporations government and military high command. Living 100-200 miles away from where u work might seem very in efficient but given the advanced transportation systems within Oniyx this problem is moot. The Work and School schedule which is monitored carefully and dictated by the government affords families leisure time even with the long travel time between home and work/school. Oniyx runs a 3 day schedule. 3 days at work with breaks for meals 6.5 hour breaks for sleep each night. Married Couples once legally married will share the 3 day schedule working the same 3 days and being home the same 3 days. The education systems runs on the same schedule 3 days at boarding type schools and 3 days home with families. Living in Oniyx isn’t anywhere near as structured as working. Individuals and families are free to do as they please on their off days. No work is sent home with adults or children, children are given an allowance from the government based on performance at school allowing them to contribute to the economy of Oniyx. The residential Sectors have everything the people would desire food, entertainment retail for anything they need.

Transportation-
The transportation within Oniyx is incredibly Unique. The 2 main modes of transport are by car and by train. The mass transit system is made up of an intricate and efficiently designed network of Vacuum MagLev trains refered to as the VML system. A maglev ( magnetic Levitation) train uses a complex system of electro magnets on both the trains and the rails to propel the train. The Oniyx VML system being fully enclosed ups the ante of this by having the magnets not just in the rail below the train but also above it, this opposing force all around the train keeps it remarkable stable and smooth running while it enhances the speed. A major flaw in maglev trains is overcoming the air drag, a large amount of energy is used up accomplishing this. Within the vaccum tubes the air is a non-issue allowing the trains to traverse the long distances between farthest points in less than 20 minutes. Each of the 7 sections has a central VML hub with un vacuumed normal MagLev trams connecting to the rest of each sector. The MagLev system whether in the vacuum or not is very energy the efficient the magnets themselves which are moving past eachother at high speeds causes electric energy to be generated which is then recycled back into the maglev systems. The roads and highways on Oniyx are also MagLev technology. Instead of 4 wheels personal vehicles have 4 sphere like maglev units at the same positioning of wheels, as with the MagLev train system the braking of these cars also generates energy and recycles it into the MagLev transportation system, making it nearly self sustaining. There is also Aerial and sea transportation for those that require it.

theres a way to make the pictures work if you either save them, or copy the url location and put around it. I'm pretty sure anyway. I save all my pictures though. You can just upload them with one of the buttons when you post a reply. if you hover over the button it will say 'Host an image' - then brown pick the picture and then host - and copy and past the img url and put around that.

Thanks ....Liam.... hope i remembered right. Sorry I havent finished it yet, I was caught a bit in goings on IRL so didnt have time top post anything new on it, I'll try and finishe this week. I just need to Describe their Military, their government system and then I think their economy and then the dreaded numbers section
