The Empire of Atrum veneficus is a proud city state that runs nearly entirely on the dark arts the 6 million citizens are taught to practice. in the past month because of the exodus and displacement of farmers and normal reproduction it has been crowded atrum will soon be seeking more land which they will request from the native peoples of spero.

GOVERNMENT: Most powerful mage leads the government, the other powerful mages assume other political status.

HISTORY: The people of atrum veneficus once lived simple lives as villagers outside the great empire of peregrinus lux lucis, one day the empire sent its white knights to the villages with orders to "cull" people accused of witchcraft. The people of the outer villages prayed to the god of Pereginus Lux Lucis but this "god" did nothing to save them from the coming massacre. Hundreds of people were accused and executed because of, at this time, the non existent practice of the "dark arts". The people had no way to defend themselves until one day a priestess of the Lux Lucis god had a vision of 25 beings clothed in varying shades of black and gray telling her to tell the people to gather in one place near the center of the main village and call out their names. The gods told her their names and she told her people as she was told to and they listened. Every citizen of the outer villages gathered in the main city at this time known as "rutilus villa" and called out each gods name in the same order they had told the priestess. The knights heard them and closed in prepared to kill all the villagers for blasphemy. But as the villagers finished their plea black flame erupted from the ground beneath the knights scorching them all into oblivion. The most powerful god of this new pantheon appeared before the people and blessed them with the power they had been accused of having and told them to flea into the mountains to the south there they should build a new and glorious city. HE of course bestowed upon the priestess the most amazing gift. Her and all her children would be the strongest Magis, this priestess' toke the name Karasen Ivorywolf. The people of the newly formed Empire of Atrum Veneficus went into the mountains and made their city. By the time karasen's grandson Sorac was leader the city was surronded by a powerful force field and the area around them had grown dark to show the power of dark magik to the world.

But all was not destined to stay peaceful, the xenophobic Lux Lucis found them and attacked yet again with one order. Exterminate. The army of Atrum veneficus was strong but not strong enough, even with the dragons, drakes, and wymrs the gods had given them they couldn't stand before an organized and extremely advanced military. So in one desperate prayer service the people said the names of thier gods in the same order they had those many years ago and the gods ripped atrum veneficus and all its land from its place in the universe and transplanted it of the coast of a strange land that courses will magical power. Sorac noticed the other nations and sent out people to make relations and at the same time sent out his son karos Ivorywolf to search for the care takers of this immense power.

RELIGION: sanctus nox noctis deus or " holy night gods" the worship the 25 gods of dark magiks.

MAGIK RULES: the rules of magik are very lax within atrum since many tasks can be used with magik.
1) magik may not be used by children except in school or with authorized adult.
2) magik must not be used to evade work that is expected to be physical.
3)Do not use magik to hurt other magis (or anyone else)
4) magik may not be used in temples
5) Be at temple every morning for hour prayer service.

MILITARY: every one in atrum is trained as a warrior from an early age. there is 125,00 people in the army and 10,000 ins reserve

MAGIS LEGIO: The largest of the military branches, 50,00 warriors are in this military branch. For people who can use magik to fight or can use magik weapons.

altus nox noctis ingredior legio: the elites of the magis legio are transferred into the "high nigh walker legions". thee is about 15,00 people in this branch

pacifico vis: the night walker who can shroud themselves or enhance speed are put into the "recon force" 5,000

iunctio vis: the night walkers who have an affinity for linking with new species of animals are put into the "connection force" when they are not needed they are in the "dragon riders" or "beast riders". 5,00

incursio legio: a legion specially trained for incursions into enemy nations. 25,000

extraho veho: the dragon riders are the most powerful linkers and always battle with their powerful shadow dragon steed. 25,000

bestia veho: the beast riders are linkers that can ride any sort of shadow beast. not just dragons. 25,000

MAGIS GROUPS: magis groups are like ethnic groups. ecause Atrum was a collection of people from the mountains of lux lucea, its plains, the cold northern wastes, and the forests and bush. All the magis types understand one another due to the dark magik ut eachh o the four groups kept their language. The ranking magis know all four languages and many people have begun to learn them.

Healer magis: Healer magis are from the frozen North. They have a strange connection to the dark magik that allows them to heal and also control the black waters. The people of the Healers are capale to adapting to many things, They have a deep sense of community and caring that holds them together through anything. They speak English

Sword magis: Sword magis are for the forests and bush of lux lucea. They are able to cast a multitude of spells that augment their physical fighting abilites like speed endurance and power. The people of the sword are a people of hard workers and warriors. The sword magis are diverse and strong. They are persistent and enduring. they speak Japanese

Flame magis: Flame magis are from the plains of lux lucea. They are masters of flame bbased attacks even without using spells they can create and manipulate dark flames. The flame magis are very powerful and honorable, living by their code from young children until they breath thier last. The flame magis have desire and will, and the energy and drive to achieve their goals. they speak German


Storm magis: Storm magis are from the mountains of lux lucea. The are masters of Black lightning and electricty if on ethe back of a dragon they can create supernatural storms and can call lightning from thier bodies with or without spells. The Sotrm magis are a calm people, and a free people. The storm magis detach themselves from worldy concerns and found a perfect inner peace and freedom. they speak latin

Converts: So far only one person has ever converted to the faith of atrum and become one of the citizens( to common knowledge )), his name is otoen nightseer. He was a lux lucis sniper and even killed sorac's father, but all was forgiven and he was made a magis and made his way high in the ranks. He is now the economic adviser. By reading the magik pulses in his body magis can tell what his inate ability is, and his is to be able to lern and language through lip contact. He has never used this ability. He learned the languages of atrum veneficus easily already knowing latin and english.

TOGETHER THESE MAGIS TYPES COVER ALL OF ATRUM. THIER MUTATION LOOKS DIFFFERENT SO YOU ARE ABLE TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN THEM. THESE TYPES JUST TELL YOU A MAGIS'S INATE AILITIES. THEY CAN ALL LEARN HOW TO USE SPELL FROM THE OTHER GROUPS BUT WILL NEVER AE THE GROUPS INANTE SPECIAL POWER. FLAME MAGIS WILL NEVER MAKE LIGHTNING WITHOUT A SPELL SUCH AS STORM MAGIS WILL NEVER CREATE FIRE WITOUT A SPELL

Military Runes- how to use magik runes and other magik enhancing sigils in combat.

Philosophy of Magical Arts- the ethical rules and schools of thought about magikal arts

Your figures for your military are some what unreasonable with a population of 3 million. Even in countries who have conscription and require their entire population to be in the reserves have less then 50 people out of every 1000 serving in any capacity [active, reserves, paramilitary]. Your figures would suggest that young children, elderly and even disabled people were used. Such a country would have problems with industry and food since there would be few people to work.

Also 1/2 to 3/4 of any military is support. Animals and solidiers need food. Soldiers need their weapons repaired and amunition. clothing needs to be cleaned. Animals must be cared for. Water - water is good. Shelter. And the people providing these things need food water and shelter.

May I suggest that you read the article I just posted in story lines and planing. At 1.5 million even in a populous of 6 million your country would be starving, rebelling, and bankrupt. For 1.5 million active personal to be a reasonable size for an army you would need a population in the order of 37.5 million people.

maybe not. again you are thinking about atrum as if it is anything like normal countries. yes people are on active duty but we arent in wars they work like normal people. we only have money to interact with other countries. so a military of this size is perfectly fine

Noble families are really just collections of people with high magis level powers that choose a family name from the high magis families of old. for example rictas konyn is going to eventually change his name to Rictas Duskdirge but h is not related to the lord justice.

Spell checker ....also some of the stuff about mages seems to contradict what was told to the research team when they investigated the black water.

It seemed to be indicated that the mages of Atrum had no control over the back water. Now this could be a misinterpretation or a lie. I just want to make sure that you didn't forget something that had been previously said.

four tribes from lux lucea. the dark magik lets them understand eachother. people are learning the other languages.

Only if the four tribes were uninterested in learning each others language. When immersed in another language accuisition is very rapid - a few months at the outside. With such a small country, I would expect you would see a creole [a blending of languages such as pensylvania dutch, Yiddish, or Creole] developing quickly. More information about creoles
